Witherbee Neighborhood Holds Annual Meeting, Elects Leaders
November 2007

The Witherbee Neighborhood Association (33rd to 56th St., O to Randolph St.) held its annual meeting earlier this month and elected board directors and officers. Before those business matters were conducted, attendees of the meeting heard from featured speaker Mayor Chris Beutler. And after his comments, the crowd enjoyed a question and answer session with Beutler.

Among attendees were several other community and state leaders, including Sen. Bill Avery, City Councilman Doug Emery, Lincoln Public School Board member Kathy Danek, and Lincoln Parks and Rec Director Lynn Johnson.

Re-elected to the WNA Board of Directors were: Steve Schwab, Larry Frisch, Karen Vogeley, Russell Miller and Mike Fitzgerald. New directors elected to the board are Kathie Holland, Rick Bagby and Sheryl Hejl. The re-elected and newly elected directors join four others who were not up for election:  Christine Nessmith,  Mary Kay Kreikemeier,  Curtis Wood, and  Lisa McNeel.

From among the directors, four officers were elected to serve a one-year term: President - Curtis Wood; Vice President - Larry Frisch; Secretary - Mary Kay Kreikemeier; and re-elected as  Treasurer, Karen Vogeley. Steve Schwab will serve as immediate Past President.

The 12 member 2008 WNA Board appreciates the service of outgoing directors Fred Zarate and Fred Freytag.

The Witherbee Neighborhood Association will round out the year with a regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6 at Tabitha Lifequest Center, 48th & J.  The neighborhood's upcoming membership campaign will be discussed. Then on Dec. 15, WNA will conduct its annual Holiday Lighting Contest. Nominations can be made to Karen Vogeley by calling 435-6022.  The winner will be honored with a first place yard sign and a prize from Lincoln Lighting.  Other prizes will also be awarded thanks to donations from Sips & Subs, Williams Cleaners, Stinson's Ace Hardware, Little Caesar's Pizza, Coffee Connection, Discount Depot, Primitive Scents and Treasures, Perfect 10 Nails and Pink Flamingo Salon.
